Since 2016, we have been helping skiers achieve their goals and dreams .

Who we are

MARS was formed in 2016 on Blacktail Mountain to allow racers to have more on snow time, more individualized training, and remain competitive. Since forming MARS it has continually grown to provide programs for skiers ages 7 on up. Programs include our developmental team Rockets, race focused YSL and FIS and the Masters level. Masters allows adults to tune skills and compete at competitions regionally and nationally.

Training and Competition

MARS athletes train regularly at Blacktail Mountain, but also have opportunities to train at Whitefish and other MT resorts. U14 and up racers may participate in skill development camps in Oregon, British Columbia (BC) and Alberta. MARS racers compete at various levels, and compete in OR, MT, ID, WA, WY, AK, and Canada in BC and Alberta.

Balance.

The balance of time for academics, training, competitions and travel is very delicate for older racers. Each of our higher level athletes learn valuable lessons on time management through the sport. Throughout the season, each athlete works on their own personal goals while staying in tune with teammates and development. Learning to simply train and travel with teammates on the road, as well as encourage their performances and console them at the low times is a very valuable life skill. This journey of experiences will build skills, and friendships for life.

Volunteer and Fundraising

Because of MARS size we count on volunteers and parents of athletes to help with races and events, as well as fundraising. MARS offers team gear for sale in the Fall for members to represent their team as well as for community members to purchase and help support our teams. Please see our volunteer page to find out how you can help our teams.

Visiting Teams

Visiting teams and athletes are able to train with MARS when in the valley. Athletes are required to have valid USSA membership and need to reach out to MARS in advance to confirm training times and dates. Visiting racers and teams will participate in preplanned training, requests may be made.

Fees:

$40 for members of USSA Northern Division

$50 for USSA members outside of Northern Division

$25/athlete/session with own coach of USSA Team

We are a Non-Profit

From equipment, safety B-netting, team gear and other related expenses, we rely on community support to provide teams and coaches every season.
